Hesperia Lake Park & Campground

Hesperia, CA

★★★★★4.5(2,649 Google reviews)

A stocked catfish-and-trout lake tucked against the foothills at the south end of town, with a big shaded playground, picnic ramadas and a walking loop around the water. One of the few places locals reliably take kids to fish, with a campground if you want to stay over. Go early in summer when the heat spikes past 100, or bundle up for the surprisingly cold mornings the rest of the year.

LOTS of ducks, geese, and other birds that are in huge crowds because they're used to people! They sell bird food for the birds if you want to interact with them. (Don't pet; they are wild). Great for young kids! There's a good sized playground with plenty of picnic tables for parents to sit. But honestly the birds and waterfalls are way more fun to play/look at! Good sized lake for fishing!

It's open ahain and not charging for park entry. There is a small fee if you want to fish. Playground looks like it was recently re-modeled.

Hesperia Lake Park is a great little get-away in the desert. Plenty of green trees and green grass. A play ground for the kiddos, picnic tables and ample trash receptacles. All the bathrooms are port-a potties. There is a general store that basically carries, water, soda, beer, ice, jerky, and assortment of individual sized snack chips. You can buy small bags of duck food for $1. Fishing is allowed on the lake but no boating or swimming is allowed. Overnight camping is also permitted, for a fee. Open pit campfires also not permitted. Great place for an afternoon picnic with your special someone or a weekend camp out with the family.

Went fishing here the day after memorial day. The fishing was very disappointing. Did cat h a thing. Only the duck and geese were entertaining. Some rude teenagers were taunting the wild life here. Sad to see. $114 to fish here for all day, what a waist of money. Better to have gone to Disneyland. Also, saw sheriff's scadaddle young kids off the green grass attempting to play with their ⚽ soccer ball. What's the point of the grass then? Just to look at it? Likely won't be returning here again.
